Relief Block

The Intersection of Digital Drawing and Fabrication

Relief Block is an exploration in making through an intersection of digital drawing and fabrication with the goal of producing an artifact without knowing the final outcome.

Two drawings were produced and were meant to be used in tandem with a logic of fabrication.  Drawing A was used as a method of surface discretization while Drawing B was meant as a logic of depth, where  zones would become deeper at their centers.

As the block is milled the layers of the wood begin to emerge in different shapes.
